The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested comedian Bharti Singh (36) on Saturday and seized 86.5 grams of ganja from the home and office in Andheri West she shares with her husband, the screenwriter Haarsh Limbachiyaa (33).
The agency acted against the duo after arresting a 21-year-old drug peddler in Khar Danda early on Saturday morning and seizing 40 grams of ganja, 15 LSD dots and Nitrazepam tablets, a controlled medication used to treat insomnia and anxiety, from his possession.

Following the drug peddler's questioning, NCB's Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede led searches at Singh's home and office a few hours later. The agency seized a total of 86.5 grams of ganja from both locations. "Both Singh and her husband accepted the consumption of ganja," said an NCB official.
The couple was served a summons and arrived for questioning at the NCB's office in Ballard Pier on Saturday afternoon. Late on Saturday evening, the agency announced that it had placed Singh under arrest, while continuing to examine Limbachiya.
The agency registered two fresh FIRs on Saturday, number 34/2020 against Singh and number 35/2020 against the drug peddler she is allegedly linked to, said an agency official.

Singh, who has appeared in several popular television comedy shows, currently hosts another comedy show named Khatra Khatra Khatra with her husband.
She is the latest celebrity to be arrested as part of the agency's campaign "to uproot the drug citadel in Mumbai, especially in Bollywood", which was launched during its investigation into allegations that actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik were part of a drug cartel which had supplied drugs to actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who died by suicide on June 14.
Since then, the agency has examined actors Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, Arjun Rampaland his girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades, film producer Firoz Nadiadwala and arrested film production executive Kshitij Prasad, Demetriades' brother Agisilaos Demetriades and Nadiadwala's wife Shabana Saeed.
